Tobii delivers new smart camera and streaming features to new flagship 16” gaming laptop

Last week, Lenovo announced the new Lenovo Legion 9i gaming laptop, the world’s first 16” gaming laptop with a self-contained liquid cooling system. Legion 9i will be preloaded with Tobii Horizon and Tobii Aware. With Tobii Horizon, gamers can enjoy a more immersive experience, while Tobii Aware brings new smart camera and streaming features for gamers, streamers, and creators.

Tobii Horizon uses the built-in camera in the Lenovo Legion 9i to detect and track head movements. The software brings immersion to a new level by allowing gamers to control the in-game camera and field of view with their head movements. If a player turns their head to look right, the in-camera follows their gaze right, which can be especially helpful in games where it´s important to be aware of the surroundings, such as first-person shooter games or racing games. Tobii Horizon is compatible with over 60 games, including AAA titles like Far Cry®, Assassin's Creed®, and simulation titles such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, War Thunder, Star Citizen, Euro Truck Simulator, Elite Dangerous, and more.

Tobii Aware includes smart features to increase privacy, security, productivity, and wellbeing. Aware brings features such as “peeker detection,” which informs the user if someone is looking at their screen, and privacy screen with continuous ID, which automatically blurs the screen if it is detected that the user has looked away or left the computer. In addition, the Tobii Aware software installed on the Lenovo Legion 9i will premiere new smart camera and streaming features, taking content creation and video conferencing to the next level. If a user needs to step away from the computer in a meeting or while streaming, Aware automatically replaces the camera feed with an image of their choice. With Tobii Aware, users can also introduce their virtual selves by creating their avatars. The avatar looks, moves, and acts like the user in real-time in meetings, streams, or other video content creations. The smart camera features in Tobii Aware also make it possible to automatically center the image on the user and pan with them as they move. If someone joins the user in the room, the field of view automatically expands to make them both visible in the feed.
