Tobii eye tracking featured in Qualcomm’s new MR and VR reference platform

Qualcomm Technologies Inc. unveiled its latest immersed mixed reality (MR) and virtual reality (VR) reference platforms, enhanced with Tobii’s eye tracking solution. The all-in-one reference design helps support OEMs build their next-generation head-mounted display (HMD).

“Along with the introduction of 4K displays, Tobii Eye Tracking has become a core technology for VR headsets,” said Doug Eggert, VP of XR at Tobii. “With Qualcomm Technologies and their powerful System-on-Chip (SoC) architecture, we have teamed up to bring an evolutionary step in display quality and rendering performance ready to go in the next generation of headsets. And we are excited for OEMs to leverage Qualcomm Technologies’ reference designs to bring this innovation to market quickly.”

The collaboration includes Goertek as the manufacturer, ensuring the seamless integration of cutting-edge technology into the manufacturing process. This reference design supports 3K per eye (Snapdragon® XR2 Gen 2) and 4K per eye (Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2) configurations.
